The Road to Emmaus

christ-appears-on-the-road-to-emmaus-2015-01-01   They walked with him and talked with him and yet they did not even know it was him.  They were blind, what they needed was for their eyes to be opened so they could know him……..on the Road to Emmaus.

Luke 24:13-31

On the Road to Emmaus

13 Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles[a] from Jerusalem. 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;16 but they were kept from recognizing him.

17 He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”

They stood still, their faces downcast. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”

19 “What things?” he asked.

“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20 The chief priests and our rulershanded him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”

25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

28 As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29 But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.

30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke itand began to give it to them. 3Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.

Deep Calleth unto Deep

By Benny Hinn

To experience a deeper dimension of God’s presence, your soul must hunger and thirst for God in the same way a deer pants for the safety and sustenance of water. Only a small percentage of believers ever really experience this kind of intimacy with God because of the price.
Psalm 42:1-2 declares, “As the hart [male red deer] panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?”

In the natural, the panting of the deer is an audible agonizing for the safety the waters provide when pursued by a predator. When the deer runs into the water, the predator can no longer detect its scent. In addition to finding safety from its enemies, the deer finds relief from thirst in the waters.

“Intimacy with God is found only in the
realm of the spirit.”Spiritually, your process of discovering a deeper dimension of God’s presence involves longing, thirsting, and seeking. David wrote, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary” (Psalm 63:1-2).

Intimacy with God is found only in the
realm of the spirit. There is a place of deep anointing, deep presence, and deep
intimacy with God Almighty where “deep calleth unto deep” or spirit calls unto spirit. It is a place that is so pure that every part of your being is consumed by the presence of Almighty God; a deep place where there is perfect communion between your spirit and every dimension of God’s presence. Your soul is stirred and there is a breakthrough in the spirit as “deep calleth unto deep” (Psalm 42:7).

It is at times like these that words become inadequate, because spoken words are the expression of the mind and not the soul. Words cease, and you stop asking. Only your heart can speak as it erupts in worship. There is perfect harmony, perfect oneness. As you bask in the glory of His awesome presence, your spirit begins to fellowship with Him, crying out, “Oh, that I might know Him! Not the things He gives, or what He imparts, but Him!”

It shouldn’t be painful.

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. Proverbs 10:22 KJV

I believe if something is from God and he wants you to truly have it, it won’t make you sad. Why hold on to something or someone that brings you more sorrow than Joy? You can’t claim, ‘Oh, God blessed me with a man/ woman’ and yet you are always sad with him or her. That’s ridiculous!! The BLESSING of the LORD addeth NO sorrow!!!

If its bringing you pain, let it go!!! Free yourself like a gazelle!!

Simple as 1. 2. 3.

If you wouldn’t like it said about you, don’t say it about others. Its a simple but eternal truth. Do unto others as you would have them do to you. Say unto and about others what you’d have them say about you. Ant if you don’t have anything nice to say, read a book!!! Its a love issue!!! Those you love, you will NEVER download (1)badmouth!!! Its as simple as 1. 2. 3.

THE SECRET PLACE

Birds are some of the most fascinating creatures on earth. One thing they have in common is the way they nurture their offspring. I like to think when a bird is wants to start a family, they plan it out and prepare (now this is just me thinking out loud). I see birds near my home collecting twigs and pieces of grass for their nests. It’s beautiful, I must add. They make sure that their nest is all warm and cozy, and away from predators or anything that might bring harm to the nest or the offspring. So they pick a high branch in a tree, or a well hidden spot in a shrubbery. Safety First!!!

When they lay their eggs, they make sure to sit on them and keep them warm all the time. This is to ensure that the chick develops well and grows inside the egg. If they don’t do this, the eggs would get too cold and they won’t hatch. When they do hatch, the parent bird still keeps the chick close its body to keep it warm as well as to protect it. They do this until the chicks are old enough to fend for themselves and protect themselves; only then can they leave the nest to build one of their own.

It’s kind of like that with us too, God places under the instruction and tutelage of different people to help us grow in our walk with him. The bible says in Eph 4:11,

“11. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12. For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13.Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:”

Notice that He says, “FOR THE PERFECTING OF THE SAINTS”. That tells me that there is a level of perfection that God intends for has to be at. And what is that? Its “…a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:”  The problem is many Christians want to reach the fullness of Christ, they actually pray ever so fervently about it, but they do not want to be under the guidance of those that the Lord has given them. They don’t want to be incubated in the nest. They feel, “well, I can’t be pastored by anyone”, “I don’t need that church, I can study the bible on my own”, “I can start my own ministry”. Well, that’s wonderful that you can study the Bible, but God saw it fit to give us Pastors, Apostles, Evangelists, etc. for our perfection. Imagine where the church at Ephesus would have been if they did not have the Apostle Paul.

Imagine where you would be if you did not have that really cool Sunday school teacher. All those people are there for your perfection and edification. Don’t leave the nest. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1)

Even at our places of employment, you may be placed under the supervision of someone; it’s for your training. Sometimes you may think, “why have they placed me here, I am more qualified than that guy.” Stop and think about it; it maybe to test your humility and your ability to work with others even those you think are less qualified than you. It’s the secret place. The trouble is, if you decide to leave, you expose yourself to danger. If you decide to be insubordinate to your supervisor, you may end up getting fired or even worse, they’ll keep passing you up for promotion. It’s because they see you are not ‘developed’ enough.

Don’t leave your church just because you argued with a brother or sister. Stay in the secret place. Don’t let the enemy earmark you for destruction by separating you from the rest of the family “for your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet 5:8). Your safety lies in Christ, and in the place where he has planted you. Then,

“8. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 9. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. (Psalm 91)

Your safety is in the Secret place. Don’t leave the nest before your time.

God Bless you.

Beyond Actions!!

More often than not, many people think what makes them good, is the good acts that they do. They think well, “I am a good person, I give to the poor, I go to church every Sunday, I am not rude to the homeless guy at the corner…I definitely must be living right”.

But we need to understand that living right is beyond our personal actions. Its about who, through his suffering became sin that we may become the righteousness of God through him(2 Corinthians 5:21)RoR. It is not right living and good deeds that make you righteous but righteousness that makes you live right.  It is impossible to live right without righteousness. Half the time, when people think they are living right, they aren’t because they are either doing things to please others or for their own selfish benefit. Righteousness comes with love. Love will compel you to do right, not because its expected but because you love God and you love the next person.

Get to know Christ. Receive the gift of righteousness and reign in life through him. Romans 5:17.

God Bless you.

Almost

The concept of love eludes me.
It’s not as simple as one, two, three,
Nor as obvious as grass and trees,
What do you mean to say you love me?

I understand myself barely.
It’s not as easy as elementary,
I am more complex than calculus, And more difficult than C++.

The pain I have been through
exceeds the joys,
It’s beyond that of a child
with crushed toys,
Am like a super hero on a failed mission,
Happiness is all just an illusion.

I no longer know what it’s like to
be cared for,
My heart can’t detect love anymore.
There is only the harshness of winter And the fierce winds that cause leaves to wither

I have hidden behind these stone
walls for so long They have
become my home.
My own little fortified city
I have left no point of entry.
And now here you are, speaking words so sweet
How I feel has changed, I must admit.
I stand at the city gates trembling, With the key in my hand and thinking,
What am I doing? I almost let you in! ! ! !
