Only a Donkey

The donkey awakened, his mind still savoring the afterglow of the most exciting day of his life. Never before had he felt such a rush of pleasure and pride.

He walked into town and found a group of people by the well. “I’ll show myself to them,” he thought.

But they didn’t notice him. They went on drawing their water and paid him no mind.

“Throw your garments down,” he said crossly. “Don’t you know who I am?”

They just looked at him in amazement. Someone slapped him across the tail and ordered him to move.

“Miserable heathens!” he muttered to himself. “I’ll just go to the market where the good people are. They will remember me.”

But the same thing happened. No one paid any attention to the donkey as he strutted down the main street in front of the market place.

“The palm branches! Where are the palm branches!” he shouted. “Yesterday, you threw palm branches!”

Hurt and confused, the donkey returned home to his mother.

“Foolish child,” she said gently. “Don’t you realize that without Him, you are just an ordinary donkey?”

Just like the donkey who carried Jesus in Jerusalem, we are most fulfilled when we are in the service of Jesus Christ. Without him, all our best efforts are like “filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6) and amount to nothing. When we lift up Christ, however, we are no longer ordinary people, but key players in God’s plan to redeem the word.

The Road to Emmaus

christ-appears-on-the-road-to-emmaus-2015-01-01   They walked with him and talked with him and yet they did not even know it was him.  They were blind, what they needed was for their eyes to be opened so they could know him……..on the Road to Emmaus.

Luke 24:13-31

On the Road to Emmaus

13 Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles[a] from Jerusalem. 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;16 but they were kept from recognizing him.

17 He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”

They stood still, their faces downcast. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”

19 “What things?” he asked.

“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20 The chief priests and our rulershanded him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”

25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

28 As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29 But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.

30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke itand began to give it to them. 3Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.

Grace!!!

Titus 2:11-14 (NIV) 11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

The Lord is My Shepherd…

The most wonderful thing one can realize is that when you have  a shepherd, you are safe and you can never be lost.

The Lord is my shepherd, with him i am safe.

He protects me from danger and keeps the enemy away.

The Lord is my shepherd, with him am on the right path.

He guides me in the way to go and because i follow him, i can’t get lost.

The Lord is my shepherd, with him i can’t starve.

He has provided me with the bread of life, and because i drink from the river of life, i never thirst!

The Lord is my Shepherd!! in him i have my confidence…

Of Battles and Wars.

Harry Truman once said

“In reading the lives of great men, I found that the first victory they won was over themselves…self-discipline with all of them came first.”

And from this I have learnt, that if I am to conquer my enemy and overcome my challenge, self-discipline is key; and that includes the discipline to always think victory and not failure. That I should so tame my mind to entertain only thoughts of good success.

And that, in itself, is victory!

Feel free to win!!

Thinking Spot…

Sometimes we hold back from our goals and targets because we are too afraid of what others will think or say.

We are so afraid that our success will be too hurtful to those around us. We think to ourselves “let me not do this because i don’t want X to think am showing off.” or “Shh, don’t let anyone know i got an A, they’ll feel bad and not want to be friends with me.”

Well, there comes a time when you need to stop living for others. Like someone once said, “Be yourself, everybody else is taken.” People that feel intimidated or angered by your success shouldn’t be the benchmark for what you do, otherwise, you’ll never get to do anything you really want.

Surround yourself with people  who celebrate your success and encourage you to do more. Be free to Win! Free to soar!! Free to conquer!!

Live life big!!! He did give us all things to enjoy, so go ahead, enjoy it!!!
